Card Challenge Monday #1

I’ve been off work for the long weekend looking after the family dog, Paddy (who lives with my parents) so I decided to do a few card challenges to keep myself occupied while he lazed around the house, snoring 🙂

The first is for The Paper Players tic-tac-toe challenge (I chose ‘Birthday/Pink/Circle’) and the Cards in Envy challenge (I chose ‘pretty pink’.)

I used some neon pink card which I put through my Big Shot in a circle-pattern embossing folder. I rounded the corners off on this as well as my card as I like the rounded look and given that I’d chosen ‘circle’ on The Paper Players challenge it made sense.

I die cut the large sentiment out of black card and pink card; I used the negative of black die cut and added the pink sentiment in the middle. I added the small bits from the black die cut in the middle of the letters so it looked right and then used my clear Wink of Stella on top of this.

I then stamped the smaller sentiment on some more black card and heat embossed it with pink powder. Again, I used my Wink of Stella but this time around the stamped sentiment.

I rounded the corners of each of the sentiments and used 3D foam tape to stick these on.

I then used some pink ink to stamp some tiny circles and dots on the white space on the card. I used the end of a pencil (where the rubber is) for the larger dots and the wrong end of a paintbrush for the tiny dots.

Once this was done, I added some pink enamel dots to finish it off.

  1. I like the black contrast with the pink, circle embossed background and the inlaid sentiment. My “eraser” dots never look so perfectly round! Thanks for sharing with us at Cards in Envy! ~ Annie

  2. I really like the circle embossed pattern you’ve used. The inlaid and sparkly die cut sentiment is fabulous and the rounded corners are a nice touch. It’s a really bright and modern, cheery birthday card. Thanks so much for joining us at The Paper Players this week.
