So my Dad turns 70 in July and my Mum & I have decided he needs a party to mark this occasion.
The boyf & I have been trying to ‘do up’ our garden for a while now and in an effort to spare us on and give us a kick up the arse I decided we should throw the party for my Dad in our garden!
We’ve not asked LOADS of people to come – just close family & friends, and I’ve been tasked (well, okay, I offered) with making the invications so people can make sure they’ve got nohting else planned during our very limited British Summer! (NB today it’s the 6th June and there’s 50mph winds outside which have knocked my greenhouse over and destroyed my soon-to-be-picked salad leaves! It was roasting last week!)
Anyway… I wanted to create some fun invites and also give them a ‘garden’ theme so I came up with these:-
I used a wood-grain effect embossing folder on the background card to make it look like a close-up of a tree stump. The actual information is on what’s supposed to be some sort of billboard, ‘nailed’ to the tree using split pins (brads.) I printed the information on the cards, rather then stamping it because a) it looks neater and b) I got to pick some cool free fonts.
I stamped the little gnomes on along with a present and coloured them in using Promarkers in various colours. I then cut some grass using a Lawn Fawn die cut on green card. I used another Lawn Fawn die to cut the tickets (stamped with stamp from same set) and stuck these on with foam tape.
Finally I used some adhesive ‘craft banners’ and wrote people’s names on who are hopefully coming.
I was quite impressed with my own efforts and my Mum loved them!
We’ve started buying bits for the party (alcohol, decorations etc.) and will order some food so neither of us are slaving away on the day. Now me and the Boyf just have to get the garden finished on time! Hopefully the weather will improve so we can get out there and build some decking ASAP!
Hope you like these anyway 🙂
