Today’s card is inspired by the challenge on Really Reasonable Ribbon. The theme is ‘Anything Goes’ but it does need to have some sort of ribbon or trim on the card.
I went for a simple thank you card and got to try out a birdcage die I recently bought and haven’t yet used. I really like this die – I got it for a bargain-price of £6 and it’s really good quality and a decent size.
I don’t have any bird dies so couldn’t put a bird in the cage (and I don’t like caged birds – I used to have a budgie when I was a kid and always felt dead guilty that he wasn’t free! Not that he would’ve survived for long if I did release him. He lived for ages actually, I got him when I was 10 and he died when I was 21 which is good going for a budgie! Anyway, I digress…) SO, I filled the cage with cut out hearts. I left the ‘bars’ in the centre of the cage unglued and just went round the edge. This way I could move the hearts about and I could also attach some twine and tie a bow to one of the ‘bars’.
I then stuck my pink lace trim to the top left and bottom right corners. I think it goes well with the colours in the card. I then cut and stuck my ‘Thank You’ sentiment and added a few buttons for some extra detail.
I’m quite happy with this card 🙂 It didn’t take long at all so I could make a whole series of these.
I wonder what else I can cage? I’m thinking some monsters from my Lawn Fawn Monster Mash set… I feel another card coming on…
