There is a great website www.blurtitout.org which has loads of resources and helpful information for people living with depression and their families & friends. They send out encouraging emails and advice and have a blog with really interesting articles.
On the site you can order a ‘Buddy Box’ which is a box of comforting treats that will be sent in the first week of the month (so if you order the box in December, it will arrive in beginning-mid January, order in January it will arrive in February etc.)
You can order a one-off box (which is what I did as I’d never bought one before) or you can purchase a subscription where you receive a box either monthly, quarterley, bi-annually or annually.
Well my Buddy Box arrived this morning and I have to say I absolutely LOVE it! It’s like a hug in a box!
The products in the box are always kept secret until the box is sent out so if you’re careful not to find anything online then it’s a lovely surprise!
The stuff I got was:-
- a postcard
- a ‘Do Not Disturb’ door hanger
- a packet of Yuyo Rooibos Restore tea-bags (with hints of chocolate and cherry-tart hibiscus…mmm)
- a tube of Human+Kind hand, elbow and foot cream
- self-care bullet journal post-it notes
- a copy of The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking
- a copy of the ‘Blurt-zine’ magazine
Even the paper it was wrapped in was cute!
The great thing is you can order this for a friend who you know could do with a lovely surprise hug to uplift their mood.
Will definitely be ordering one again – might even subscribe – to have this arrive is a bit of encouragement to get through each day. This has really brightened my day! 🙂
